BELIEVE ON THE
LORD JESUS CHRIST

Acts 16:31 "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."

What does this mean? Is it only "believe"?

James 2:19 "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble."

The devils are believers, but they are still devils. They are lost, but they are believers. It is apparent that belief alone does not save.

Matthew 8:29 "And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?"

Mark 1:24 "Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God."

Acts 16:17 "The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which show unto us the way of salvation."

Lord = Master. He has the right to control our lives.

John 8:12 "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

He is our Guide.
In the mountains and glaciers, you must step in the guide's footsteps.
You must obey the guide.
To "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ" means to take Him as our Guide, Teacher, and Master -
Not our ways, but His.

Luke 6:46 "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?"

Matthew 1:21 "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins."

Jesus means Saviour.

Matthew 20:28 "Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many."

Isaiah 53:6 "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."

Isaiah 53:8 "He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken."

Why did Jesus die? Here is the answer.

Hebrews 9:28 "So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation."

Jesus was more than a martyr for a good cause, He was an offering for sin.

1 Peter 2:24 "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed."

John 8:34 - 36
"Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."

Therefore Jesus is not Lord and Saviour of a life committed to sin. "The Son shall make you free". "Free indeed." We cannot trust ourselves away from Christ for a single hour. Sin and Satan are strong, but the LORD JESUS CHRIST is stronger. "Looking unto Jesus, the author and Finisher of our faith."

To "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ" is to trust Him as your Lord, Saviour, Guide, Example and your All in All.

To believe is to obey.

Hebrews 11:31 "By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace."

Hebrews 4:11 "Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief."

2 Peter 1:4 - 7
"Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity."
